Monterey, CA. TRG - Aston Martin Racing teammates James Davison and Christina Nielsen secured a top 5 finish in the United Sportscar race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today.
The result was with frustration however as Nielsen had led the first half of the race prior to handing over the 007 Vantage to Davison, who later went on to set the fastest lap of the race, a new track record in the GT Daytona class.
An unfortunate set of circumstances occurred when Nielsen pitted to hand the car over to Davison and was blocked by a PC Prototype entering the pit box. The fuel hose was not able to reach the car and 1 minute was lost in the pit lane as a result. Without any full course cautions to help recover the lost ground, Davison was only able to recover to a 5th place finish.
The Tudor United Sportscar Championship continues later this month visiting Detroit Belle Isle May 29-30. Davison will be performing double duty in the Pirelli World Challenge racing for the AE Replay XD NISSAN GT Academy team on the same weekend.
